Dissolved oxygen in water is an essential and fundamental parameter for aquatic organisms. The level of dissolved oxygen also affects stocking density and production volume, and is closely linked to the efficiency of water surface utilization in aquaculture. Besides being supplied through gas dissolution and photosynthesis by aquatic plants, dissolved oxygen in water primarily comes from artificial aeration. Except in emergency situations or scientific experiments where chemical oxygenators are used, mechanical aeration is generally the preferred method. This article provides an introduction only to five commonly used types of aerators, intended purely as a reference.

Basic principle: Pump the relatively poor-quality water from the bottom of the pool upward and spray it rapidly outward in all directions before letting it fall back down.
Advantage:
1. By spraying water upward and letting it fall back down, we can increase the duration and total surface area of aeration and oxygen enrichment in the air.
2. It has a good oxygen-increasing effect and can rapidly boost the dissolved oxygen levels in surface waters within a short period of time.
3. It also has practical aesthetic appeal and is suitable for use in garden landscapes or fish ponds at tourist attractions. Not only is it visually elegant and stylish, but it’s also quite easy to use.
Defect: Due to its relatively small total oxygenation area and poor energy conversion efficiency, it is best suited for small fish ponds, shallow water bodies, ecological parks, and tourist pools.
Feature: A splash-type aerator works particularly well when rescuing fish floating on the surface, as it can rapidly increase oxygen levels in the surface water. At the same time, it slows down the rate of thermal convection in the water body, thereby preventing the buildup of an anaerobic fermentation layer that would otherwise deplete oxygen levels at the water's surface.
The impeller-type aerator is a relatively common model and a typical type of aerator. It boasts comprehensive functionality and has a long history. It excels in oxygenation, water mixing, and bubble generation, making it ideal for oxygenating large-scale water bodies with a water depth of over 1 meter.
