Aerator manufacturer Let’s talk about the precautions for aerators:
1. How do I determine the type?
The aerator manufacturer stated: Water depth, surface area, and pool shape are factors to consider when determining the appropriate loading capacity. Rectangular ponds are better suited for paddlewheel aerators, while square or circular ponds are more suitable for impeller-type aerators. An impeller aerator with one kilowatt of power can generally meet the oxygenation needs of an adult fish pond covering approximately 3.8 mu. For ponds larger than 4.5 mu, it is advisable to install two or more aerators.
2. Installation location
The aerator should be installed in the center of the pond or upwind, generally at least 5 meters away from the embankment. It should be secured by means of stakes or anchors. When installing impeller aerators, ensure that the water flow generated during operation does not disturb the sludge at the bottom of the pond. Additionally, pay close attention to electrical safety during installation and take appropriate protective measures to ensure safe use; regularly inspect and maintain the equipment.
3. Startup and Operating Time
The aerator manufacturer stated that, The aerator must be operated under safe conditions, and its operating time should be determined in conjunction with factors such as the stocking density of pond fish, the growth season, the water quality of the pond, weather changes, as well as the aerator’s operating principle, main functions, oxygen-increasing performance, and load. This ensures that the aerator operates efficiently without waste. To properly manage the start-up timing, adhere to the “six on, three off” rule: “Six On”: 1) Start the machine when the weather is clear in the afternoon; 2) Start the machine when it’s cloudy the next morning; 3) Start the machine during continuous rainfall in the middle of the night; 4) Start the machine in the middle of the night when it’s raining; 5) Start the machine promptly when there’s a large temperature difference[7]; 6) Start the machine at any time under special circumstances. “Three Off”: 1) Do not start the machine after sunrise in the morning; 2) Do not start it at night; 3) Do not start it during the day on rainy days.
In the event of sudden weather changes or when the float is affected by factors such as water, fertilizer, or fish, you can flexibly adjust the activation timing to prevent the float from drifting away or sinking.
4. Regular maintenance
For safe operation, the aerator must undergo regular maintenance. The motor, gearbox, impeller, and float should all be overhauled. Wiring boxes that have been eroded by water should be replaced promptly. After maintenance, all components should be stored in a well-ventilated, dry location and reassembled into the complete unit only when necessary.
Using a fishpond aerator is one of the technical measures to increase dissolved oxygen in the water and prevent fish from surfacing. To enhance the effectiveness of the aerator, aerator manufacturers recommend the following methods:
1. If a small number of fish are floating in the pond, you should start the aerator around midnight, before the fish begin to float, and keep it running continuously until sunrise.
2. On rainy days, you can start the system between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. the next day and keep it running until sunrise in the east. For fish ponds with high densities of water, fertilizer, and fish, the startup time should be advanced accordingly.
3. During the hot season, to break up the warm water layer, it’s generally advisable to start the system around 2 p.m., and running it for 1.5 to 2.5 hours is ideal.
4. The operating principle of an oxygenator is as follows: During cold weather, there’s no need to turn it on; however, during hot weather, you can run it daily to break up the warm water layer and directly increase oxygen levels. The best time to start the oxygenator is in the evening—generally, avoid starting it late at night. We recommend turning it on before sunrise in the evening.
