Defect:
1. When the pond has shallow water areas, this method should not or is not suitable for use. If the waves are too large, they can easily disturb the water body or stir up bottom sediments and waste, thereby degrading water quality; sometimes, the more it’s used, the more oxygen-depleted the water becomes.

The aerator manufacturer stated that, When a body of water experiences oxygen depletion, wave-based aeration equipment is not suitable for use; otherwise, it could very likely exacerbate the oxygen deficiency (see specific details in the preceding section), except in deep ponds and large water bodies.
According to the oxygenator manufacturer, microporous diffused-aeration oxygenators are now commonly used in factory-based aquaculture. These devices are multi-functional, offering both oxygenation and bottom-conditioning benefits. Today, most newly upgraded microporous diffused-aeration oxygenators utilize microporous nano-composite materials.
Basic principle: A Roots blower is used to deliver gas into a gas delivery pipe, which in turn directs the gas into microporous tubes. The microporous tubes disperse the gas into tiny bubbles within the water. These microbubbles rise upward from beneath the water surface. Under the influence of high oxygen concentration in the gas phase, the bubbles fully dissolve into the water, thereby increasing the oxygen content. Additionally, the rising and falling motion of the water creates rotational and lateral flow. The lateral flow efficiently transports oxygen-rich water from the upper layers down to the oxygen-deficient lower layers. Meanwhile, the rotational flow around the microporous tubes helps spread oxygen-rich water outward, ensuring uniform oxygenation throughout the entire water body.
Advantage:
1. Energy-efficient. The bottom micro-pore aerator features a wide operating pressure range, a compact structure, convenient maintenance, and exceptional durability. The entire device exhibits minimal vibration. Practical experience has demonstrated that this submerged aeration and oxygenation system delivers remarkable results. It is reported that a high-performance 2.2-kW oxygenation unit can effectively oxygenate a water surface area of 30 to 40 mu.
2. Improve the ecological protection of aquaculture water bodies. The bubble flow generated by aeration and oxygenation at the bottom of the water body has a wide coverage area. The abundant air currents come into contact with a large surface area of water, ensuring that dissolved oxygen levels at the bottom of the water increase. This accelerates the oxidation and decomposition of organic compounds and carcinogenic substances such as sodium nitrite that accumulate at the bottom of the water body, and also helps remove harmful gases from the water surface, thereby achieving bottom-conditioning and stabilizing water quality effects.
3. Easy to use. Different types of water surfaces can be equipped with centrifugal fans of varying output power. A single centrifugal fan can be used for multi-pond aeration, including dual-pond aeration. The main unit and vertical pipe connections are easy to install, disassemble, and replace.
4. It’s unlikely for electric leakage to occur in water. With bottom micro-pore aeration, the pipes are located in the water while the motor remains on the shore, eliminating any possibility of electric leakage in the water.
Defect:
1. The initial investment cost is relatively high compared to the costs of other aerators.
2. At this stage, micro-pore technology has relatively limited capabilities, and the micro-pore aeration tubes produced are very prone to clogging.
3, The aerator manufacturer stated that, Not suitable for use in bodies of water with shallow depths—generally, when the water level exceeds 1.5 to 2.0 meters—because excessively high pressure will prevent it from achieving optimal aeration performance.
