1. Oxygenating fish ponds to maintain high yields
According to calculations, each kilowatt of turbine-type aerator can supply more than 1.8 kilograms of oxygen to the water per hour—enough to sustain several tons of fish for an entire hour, thereby promptly addressing oxygen deficiency in pond fish. After installing aerators, the production environment of fish ponds transitions from a naturally regulated ecosystem to an artificially controlled one, breaking through the natural limitations on fish stocking density found in still-water ponds under natural conditions. By adjusting the oxygen levels in the pond according to the number and species of fish as well as varying weather conditions, aerators can artificially meet the oxygen requirements necessary for optimal fish growth, thus creating crucial conditions for high and stable yields.
2. Promote convective exchange in water bodies
The impeller-type aerator can lift water upward, and once activated, it initiates vertical circulation of the pond water. This circulation ensures that the bottom water within 2 meters deep mixes with the surface water, transporting nutrients and reducing substances adsorbed onto the sediment to the surface layer, while simultaneously delivering oxygen-rich water from the surface down to the bottom, thereby homogenizing water quality. When dissolved oxygen levels in the upper water layers decline, they can be recycled and replenished through photosynthesis.
3. Release of toxic gases and concentration of oxygen
During the process of stirring the water, the aerator allows gases dissolved in the pool water to escape into the air. Opening it in the morning can accelerate the release of toxic gases (such as hydrogen sulfide and ammonia) from the water. Starting at noon, it also helps dissipate the high concentrations of dissolved oxygen found in the oxygen-rich upper layer. However, thanks to the aerator’s vigorous mixing action, the water surface remains well-oxygenated, and most of the dissolved oxygen is diffused downward through the stirring effect.
4. Reduce the feed coefficient.
This is the indirect function of an aerator. Fish are poikilothermic animals, and their feed conversion ratio varies. When water temperature is optimal and dissolved oxygen concentration is high, the feed conversion ratio is low; however, when dissolved oxygen levels are low, the feed conversion ratio can be one to several times higher than when dissolved oxygen levels are optimal.
