1. In the cloudy morning, turn on the aeration machine in the fish pond: At this time, due to the relatively weak sunlight intensity, phytoplankton produce less oxygen through photosynthesis, resulting in poorer dissolved oxygen levels throughout the water body. Therefore, starting the aeration machine early in the morning—when dissolved oxygen levels are at their lowest—can help prevent the danger of fish floating to the surface due to oxygen deficiency around dawn.
2. At noon on a sunny day, turn on the aeration machine in the fish pond: At this time, there is a significant temperature difference between the upper and lower water layers of the pond, and the lower layer lacks timely oxygen replenishment. If the aeration machine is turned on, it can overcome the resistance of the water, facilitating the exchange between the upper and lower layers. As a result, both the temperature difference and the oxygen difference are greatly reduced, allowing for adequate oxygen supply to the lower layer.
3. The aeration machine in the fish pond should be turned on in the middle of the night during prolonged rainfall: In such conditions, sunlight intensity is weaker than on cloudy days, and phytoplankton in the fish pond produce very little oxygen through photosynthesis. Therefore, it’s necessary to turn on the aeration machine in the middle of the night to generate oxygen and prevent the fish from suffocating in the pond.
4. On clear nights, do not turn on the aeration equipment in fish ponds: This prevents stirring up sediment and increasing oxygen consumption. At this time, photosynthesis by phytoplankton in the pond will come to a halt, and oxygen can no longer be supplied to the water. Once the aeration equipment is turned on, the dissolved oxygen in the upper layer of water will decrease rapidly and cannot be replenished, while the dissolved oxygen in the lower layer will be consumed at an accelerated rate, further speeding up oxygen depletion. As a result, fish are more likely to float to the surface the next day.
5. Do not turn on the aeration equipment in fish ponds during cloudy days: This is to avoid using weak light that could disrupt the photosynthesis of surface phytoplankton.
