The waterwheel aerator is also a type of water-lifting aerator. By rechlorinating the water body and driving water circulation, it supplies the oxygen needed for the growth of aquatic flora and fauna at the bottom of ecological rivers and lakes during operation, thereby improving and reducing sediment accumulation and achieving the goal of water conservation. This device integrates aeration, water mixing, and oxygen enrichment into one—just like the waterwheel-type aerator—which has been proven in practical applications to effectively promote water flow and enhance water quality. If you take a closer look at the advantages of this waterwheel aerator, you’ll discover even more surprising benefits.

The new stainless steel waterwheel aerator features a shaft made of engineering plastic and stainless steel tubing, offering higher mechanical strength and an extended service life. Moreover, it breaks away from traditional designs—combining the shaft with the impeller not only makes assembly faster and more stable but also ensures a better, integrated fit with the movable head. Corrosion resistance is standard, and its high ductility and shock-absorbing capabilities are highly praised.

The waterwheel aerator features an easily detachable plastic impeller—its blades are removable for convenient replacement, reducing maintenance time and costs. The impeller is robust, corrosion-resistant, and UV-resistant. Increasing the number of impellers can effectively enhance oxygenation capacity. Moreover, the high-density plastic buoy is impact-resistant and not easily broken. The low-resistance transmission features new bearings, precise adjustments, and high-quality gears (with carburized and nitrided tooth surfaces), making it durable and highly efficient.

Today, China’s economic development has entered the 14th Five-Year Plan period and the “dual-carbon” era. This calls for strong support from high-end manufacturing—and also demands precision and niche expertise. The opportunities and challenges facing waterwheel aerators are inextricably linked, signaling that a major shift and reshuffling are underway. The entire industry is now grappling with profound questions: What’s the current market landscape? Where should we steer our technological direction? And where lies our forward-looking vision? To succeed, we must carefully assess our strategic positioning and identify the unique advantages we can bring to the table.

When an aquaculture pond experiences oxygen deficiency, activating the waterwheel aerator can prevent fish and shrimp from exhibiting “floating heads.” On sunny days, when dissolved oxygen levels in the upper layer are high, the aerator can accelerate water convection, increasing dissolved oxygen levels in the lower layers of the water body. This promotes rapid growth of fish and shrimp, reduces feed conversion ratios, facilitates the oxidation and decomposition of organic matter, and helps minimize disease outbreaks. Moreover, the circulating flow of water also stimulates the reproduction and growth of plankton, thereby enhancing the pond’s primary productivity.

As can be seen, the function of the waterwheel aerator goes beyond simply increasing oxygen levels in the water—it also effectively boosts the pond’s primary productivity and self-purification capacity, thereby improving water quality and the overall ecological environment of the pond. Although the water circulation generated by the waterwheel aerator may not be suitable for the living habits of certain aquaculture species such as eels, it plays a significant role in promoting the healthy and rapid growth of fish and shrimp.

Although fish floating to the surface can be caused by a variety of factors, in addition to excessive stocking density, overloading the total fish biomass, and poor water quality, the convective properties of water are also a major factor that cannot be overlooked. Simply put, when water temperature is low, its specific gravity (or density) increases, causing it to sink; conversely, when water temperature is high, its specific gravity (or density) decreases, making it float upward. Understanding and mastering the principles of water convection will greatly facilitate the smooth operation of aquaculture. On warm days, after being heated by the sun during the day, the warmer, lighter water tends to stay on top. As the sun sets and the air temperature begins to drop, the upper layer of water cools down, increasing its density, and gradually starts to sink. If the nighttime temperature remains relatively high, the water cools down slowly, and the upper layer won't reach the bottom of the pond until early morning. This is one of the main reasons why oxygen levels tend to drop sharply from late night into early morning on hot days. However, if a heavy rainstorm occurs in the evening, the situation changes dramatically. The cold, heavy rainwater quickly sinks to the bottom of the pond, stirring up sediment, leftover feed, fecal waste, biological residues, and other organic matter from the pond bottom and bringing them into the middle and upper layers of the water. These harmful organic substances rapidly deplete the dissolved oxygen in the water. Before dawn even breaks, the dissolved oxygen in the water may be completely used up, leaving the fish vulnerable to oxygen depletion and causing them to float to the surface—a phenomenon known as "floating and surfacing." Therefore, sudden heavy rainfall in the evening or at night can also lead to oxygen depletion and fish floating to the surface.
