  The waterwheel aerator must be operated safely. The operating time should be determined in consideration of factors such as the fish stocking density in the pond, the growth season, pond water quality, weather changes, and the load on the waterwheel aerator, so as to ensure efficient operation without waste. When using it, the following principles should be observed:

  1. Use at noon on a sunny day

  During the hot season when temperatures are high and skies remain clear for consecutive days, oxygenation should be increased starting from noon. Under continuous sunny conditions, phytoplankton photosynthesis is vigorous, leading to high dissolved oxygen levels in the water, which will not affect fish growth.

  The purpose of the oxygen generator is to regulate the overall dissolved oxygen status of the pond and increase the dissolved oxygen content in the lower layers of the water body. When aeration begins at noon on a sunny day, the stirring effect of the waterwheel aerator’s accessories on the water surface is not very noticeable. However, by agitating the water body, it promotes mixing between the upper and lower layers. Through photosynthesis by phytoplankton, the oxygen-rich upper and middle layers can be carried into the middle and lower sections of the water body, accelerating the decomposition of organic matter. This prevents the accumulation of large amounts of dissolved organic matter under anaerobic conditions, eliminates potential oxygen-consuming factors, and effectively avoids sudden changes in weather throughout the entire process.

  During the high-temperature season, when skies are cloudy during the day and sunlight is insufficient, the waterwheel aerator should be started before sunrise the next day. On cloudy days, light intensity significantly weakens, inhibiting photosynthesis in phytoplankton, which in turn greatly boosts the oxygen content of the water body.

  There has been a noticeable decline in the total dissolved oxygen content of the pond. At night, as photosynthesis by phytoplankton—the primary source of dissolved oxygen in aquaculture waters—comes to a halt, the dissolved oxygen level in the aquaculture water begins to decrease, reaching its lowest point around sunrise the following day. Since the previous day had been sunny, the total amount of dissolved oxygen in the water was relatively low, making it easy for oxygen levels to drop further and potentially impairing the normal activities of the cultured organisms. Starting the waterwheel aerator early to increase oxygen levels can effectively prevent the current situation where dissolved oxygen levels in the water are affecting the production of cultivated vegetables.

  3. Activate at midnight

  During the high-temperature aquaculture season, if there is continuous rainfall, based on actual dissolved oxygen monitoring, the waterwheel aerator should be started in the middle of the night. Under prolonged cloudy and rainy weather conditions, photosynthesis in the aquaculture water body is severely inhibited, leading to a significant reduction in the overall oxygen content of the water.

  The amount further decreases. At night, due to aquatic biological activities such as fish movement and organic matter decomposition, the oxygen content in the water rapidly declines, making it difficult for the oxygen levels to last until the next day’s sunrise. Because the low-oxygen conditions caused by dryness impair the normal activities of fish, it becomes necessary... To start oxygen enrichment, add oxygen to the machine as early as possible.

The cold, heavy rainwater quickly sinks to the bottom of the pond, stirring up sediment, leftover feed, fecal waste, biological residues, and other organic matter from the pond bottom and bringing them into the middle and upper layers of the water. These harmful organic substances rapidly deplete the dissolved oxygen in the water. Before dawn even breaks, the dissolved oxygen in the water may be completely used up, leaving the fish vulnerable to oxygen depletion and causing them to float to the surface—a phenomenon known as "floating and surfacing." Therefore, sudden heavy rainfall in the evening or at night can also lead to oxygen depletion and fish floating to the surface.
